FAQ questions :

Q: What are the Username and Password for the Web UI?

A: You can access the Web UI of your device with the following credentials:
Username: admin
Password: password

Q: What are the Username and Password for SSH access?

A: Using an SSH client, you can use the following credentials:
Username: root
Password: uClinux

Q: What’s Positron’s FTP server info?

A: You can gain access to our FTP by using the following credentials:
ftp://ftp.positrontelecom.com
Username: support@positrontelecom.com
Password: Support2009

Q: What are the first things I need to do, to set up my device?

A: You can find our Getting Started Guide, on our FTP, under "/∗Userguide”.
ftp://ftp.positrontelecom.com      Username: support@positrontelecom.com
Password: Support2009
We have “How to” videos as well. You can find them under the "Firmware Downloads" buttom.

Q: How do I download my logs, recordings… etc?

A: The logs can be downloaded from the "Diagnostics → Logs" section, in the UI.
Recordings can be downloaded from the "System → Recordings" section, and finally, the CDRs under the "System → CDR" section.

Q: How can I tell if my CF/USB is being used by the system?

A: If your CF or USB device is recognized and ready for use, you should see its details on the Status screen (in the Storage section), as seen bellow:
LEXAR ATA FLASH
CF Total   3853536 KB
CF Used   7744 KB (0%)
CF Free   3650040 KB

In both cases the system will not use the device, unless it’s enabled. You can enable and select what you’d like to save to your device, in the "System → Maintenance → Logs" section; checking off at least one of logs, recordings or voicemail.

Q: Do I really need external storage?

A: Given the limited amount of space available for storage on the device, external storage is a VERY good idea and is definitely recommended.

Q: How do I upgrade the firmware of my device?

You can find them under the "Firmware Downloads" buttom.

Then from the UI, in the "System → Maintenance → Firmware Upgrade" section, you can select HTTP, FTP or a Local upgrade.

  • If you’re device is connected to the internet, you can use the HTTP option. Using the link provided above, find your specific device, copy the firmware upgrade link, paste it to the URL textbox and then click Upgrade.
  • If your device isn’t connected to the internet, you can simply download it and do a Local Upgrade, or use a TFTP server.

Note: It’s ALWAYS a good idea to take a backup before upgrading your device’s firmware.

Q: How can I dial normally when my provider wants full international numbers for local calls?

A: When you create your dial plan rules you can add a prefix to a local number. E.g.:

  • _NXXXXX:0:5142 this will recognize a 6-digit number and add 5142 in front of it, so you will dial 123456 and the device will send 5142123456 to your carrier.
  • _9NXXXXXX:1:514 this will recognize an 8-digit number starting with 9 strip the 9 and prefix 514, so if you dial 92508585 the device will send 5142508585

Q: How do I record my own announcements for my IVRs?

A: Just dial *95 from any extension, listen for the beep, record your message and then press "#" to playback your message.

This will record as a sound file at the bottom of the list, in the IVR section of the sound manager (PBX → Sound Manager); it will have a random alphanumeric name so you will want to rename it.

Q: Why don't you have feature X?

A: You can find the latest firmwares on our website, along with their change logs, in the Products section. Click here

A: Ask us! We simply may not have thought of it.
